Election Notification

Issued under the directions of the CLAI Executive Committee as decided in its meeting of 8th May
§1. This notice announces the elections for the CLAI Executive Committee and Office-bearers elections 2025, as mandated by the general body meeting held in Delhi during the CLAI Conference of 2024.
It will also be sent out to the email you have registered in the CLAI records.
§2. The following are the positions to be filled up.
President –1
Vice President –2 (one from each chapter)
General Secretary—1
Secretary Delhi Chapter –1
Secretary Kolkata Chapter—1
Treasurer Delhi Chapter-1
Treasurer Kolkata Chapter-1
Executive Committee Members –17
§3. Electoral Roll: In accordance with the CLAI constitution and rules, all Life Members in good standing, are eligible to vote and to stand for the posts. In such cases where a particular chapter is mentioned, the candidate must be a member of that chapter. The electoral roll is being put up in the website https://www.clai.in/election/ . In case you are a member but your name does not feature in the list, please let us know as soon as possible but definitely not later than May 24, 2024, so that we can make corrections. Members are reminded that though the term Life Member is used, since the last time by laws were changed, a Life membership has a validity of ten years.
§4. Nomination:
§4A. Nominations may be uploaded using the GOOGLEDOC option added on the website. Those who have filed nomination using the old nomination form, however, need not file fresh nominations.
§4B. The nomination form is a google doc which the candidate, proposer and seconder are to fill up online. Once the final date for nomination passes, the website developers, who are also handling the election process, will provide the Election Officer and the Presidents, the full list of nominations. Nominations and results will be declared by the Election Officer and the Presidents over the CLAI website once the results are finalised.
§4C. Evey nomination form must indicate who is contesting, for which post, and must be signed by candidate as well as proposer and seconder. Nobody should propose/second more than four candidates. During scrutiny, if one person is found to have proposed/seconded more than 4 people: in the order of recording (following the SAME ORDER maintained in the list of posts for which elections are being held), the 5th form signed by the same person as nominator/seconder will not be considered valid, regardless of the candidate’s identity and the position she has been nominated for.
§4D. The google doc nomination form is available on the website.
§5. Elections
§5A. In case there are no more candidates than are seats for any category, such candidates’ names will be declared as elected uncontested on June 10, the date of announcement of the results.
§5B. In case there are contests, all voters will receive invitation to vote through a google doc. Voters are to follow the instructions so that the ballots are received anonymously by the app.
§5C. Important dates are as follows:
Nominations may be submitted from May 26.
Members enrolled as CLAI members as of May 24 would enjoy the right to participate in the elections–those who become members after May 24 may not do so.
Nominations may be submitted by proposers till midnight of June 2 –3.
The list of nominations will be downloaded by the presidents and the election officer at 11 am on June 3, and posted on the CLAI website after scrutiny.
Deadline for withdrawal from election is midnight of June 6. Members may cast their vote on the website from 10 am of June 7 to midnight of June 9.
Results will be downloaded by the presidents and election officer at 11 am on June 10, and will be immediately posted on the website.
